I liked the look of the sack that my basmati rice came in, so I decided to use it in a purse I was making. In keeping with my passion for green living, I am a big fan of upcycling old items into new uses so this was a particularly satisfying project for me. To make this bag I had to cut the rice sack and patch it together to make it big enough to fit the purse pattern I found online at Very Purple Person. Then I followed the rest of the instructions to complete my eco-friendly, upcycled purse. This bag is just the right size to be an everyday purse and I am very happy with how it came out. Now I will be on the lookout for other neat, non-traditional fabrics to make into other cool bags.

I can’t believe that this was a rice bag. It turned into the cutest purse – nice going. Thanks for sharing at our party this week.
